Angesichts der Terrorangriffe der Hamas auf die Zivilbevölkerung in Israel und der hieraus entstandenen Ausnahmesituation im israelischen Alltag lud ConAct die im Jugendaustausch aktiven Fachkräfte aus Deutschland kurzfristig für den 12. Oktober zu einer aktuellen Stunde des gedanklichen Austauschs ein. Innerhalb eines Tages meldeten sich rund 30 Fachkräfte für die digitale Runde an. Ein zentrales Ziel war es, gerade in diesen schweren Tagen in Kontakt zu sein und die engen Verbindungen nach Israel aufrechtzuerhalten und zu pflegen. Als Gäste waren aus Israel die langjährigen Partnerinnen Tal Madar und Shlomit Ronen-Livne vom Verband der Israelischen Jugendbewegungen zugeschaltet. Sie beschrieben sehr eindrücklich die Situation in Israel in Folge der Angriffe vom 07. Oktober und die teilten ihre persönlichen Eindrücke und Momentaufnahmen mit. Dabei gingen sie im Besonderen darauf ein, wie die Situation junge Menschen in Israel betrifft und wie die Arbeit der Jugendbewegung angesichts der schwierigen Situation weiterläuft und konkrete gesellschaftliche Hilfe leistet.

Im Anschluss an das Gespräch mit den Gästen konnte sich ConAct mit den Fachkräften austauschen: Wer steht auf welche Weise mit den Partnerorganisationen in Israel in Kontakt? Welche Bedarfe und Fragen bestehen auf deutscher Seite aktuell? Und besonders: Welche Ideen zur Unterstützung der Partner*innen in Israel lassen sich gemeinsam entwickeln?

Gemeinsam ließen sich verschiedene konkrete Ideen zusammentragen, die ConAct weiterentwickeln und konkretisieren wird. Einzelne Vorschläge, wie die Sammlung von Spendenaufrufen aus dem Jugendbereich in Israel, finden sich bereits auf der ConAct-Website. Deutlich wurde der Bedarf der Fachkräfte, in dieser Krisenzeit im engen Austausch miteinander und mit ConAct zu stehen. Ähnliche Treffen werden in den kommenden Wochen daher vermehrt angeboten. Das nächste Angebot, welches während des Treffens angefragt wurde, wird ein ConAct-Workshop für Fachkräfte im Jugendaustausch sein, wie mit den Terrorangriffen und dem Diskurs hierüber in Deutschland in der Jugend- und Bildungsarbeit pädagogisch sinnvoll umgegangen werden kann.

In light of the terrorist attacks by Hamas on the civilian population in Israel and the resulting exceptional situation in everyday life in Israel, ConAct invited experts from Germany involved in youth exchanges to a one-hour discussion on October 12. Within a day, around 30 professionals in youth exchange programs registered for the digital session. One of the main purposes was to stay in touch, especially in these difficult times, and to maintain and strengthen the close ties with Israel. Our long-standing partners Tal Madar and Shlomit Ronen-Livne from the Council of Israeli Youth Movements joined us as guests from Israel. In a very moving way, they described the situation in Israel following the attacks on October 7 and shared their personal impressions and insights. They particularly focused on how the situation affects young people in Israel and how the work of the youth movement continues in the face of the difficult situation and how they are moreover providing actual social support to the people who were affected.

Following the discussion with the guests, the ConAct team had the opportunity to talk to the professionals in youth exchanges: Who is in contact with their partner organizations in Israel and in which ways? What are the current needs and concerns on the German side? And in particular: What ideas for supporting the partners in Israel can be developed together?

Together, various concrete ideas were collected, which will be further developed and concretized by ConAct. Individual suggestions, such as the collection of donation appeals from the youth sector in Israel, can already be found on the ConAct website. It became clear that the professionals need to be in close communication with each other and with ConAct in this time of crisis. Similar meetings will therefore be offered more frequently in the coming weeks. ConAct's next offer, which was requested during the meeting, will be a workshop for youth exchange professionals on how to deal with the terrorist attacks and the discourse about them in Germany in a pedagogically meaningful way in youth and educational work.
