für unsere israelischen Partner*innen im Jugendaustausch ist gefühlt immer noch 7. Oktober. Und auch uns beschäftigen die Geschehnisse um den Krieg gegen Israel unablässig: 

WE ARE CONNECTED. Im Rahmen der Initiative „WE ARE CONNECTED. German-Israeli Youth Exchange in Support for Israel“ lassen wir Zeichen der Verbundenheit mit den israelischen Partnern sichtbar und spürbar werden. Seien sie dabei!

Wie umgehen mit dem 7. Oktober in Bildung und Begegnung? Um die veränderte israelische Realität in der Begegnungsarbeit zu vermitteln, Verstehen und Empathie zu fördern, hat im Januar 2024 bereits eine bilaterale Austauschgruppe getagt. Pädagogische Konzepte und mögliche Materialien werden bald zur Verfügung stehen.

Trotz allem: Im Matchmaking-Programm werden auch in diesem Jahr neue deutsch-israelische Partnerschaften geschmiedet; auf dem Verbands- und Länderzentralstellentreffen sprechen wir über aktuelle Herausforderungen; das Wirken gegen Antisemitismus und Israelfeindschaft geht in zahlreichen Veranstaltungen weiter; im April 2024 werden deutsche und israelische Projektpartner*innen zusammenkommen, um Begegnungen zu planen.

Auch in diesem Jahr lädt ConAct zu einem Treffen für Verantwortliche der Verbands- und Länderzentralstellen für den deutsch-israelischen Jugendaustausch einladen. Das Treffen wird in diesem Jahr als echte Zusammenkunft in Kassel stattfinden.

ConAct und die Israel Youth Exchange Authority laden zur Teilnahme am Match-Making-Programm 2024 ein. Das Programm vermittelt Partnerorganisationen für den deutsch-israelischen Jugendaustausch und begleitet die neuen Partnerschaften im Aufbau ihrer Projekte. Das Seminar besteht aus zwei Teilen:

1. Teil: 10.–15. März 2024 in Deutschland (vorläufig)
2. Teil: 02.–07. Juni 2024 in Israel (vorläufig)

Die Teilnahme an beiden Programmteilen ist verbindlich.

Die Angriffe der Hamas auf Israel am 7. Oktober und der darauffolgende Krieg treffen und erschüttern die israelische Gesellschaft tief. Es bedarf intensiver gemeinsamer Überlegungen, wie die Gegenwärtigkeit der Ereignisse des 7. Oktober in die bilaterale pädagogische Arbeit vor, während und nach den Begegnungen aufgegriffen wird und welchen Rahmen junge Menschen für gute Begegnungen jetzt brauchen werden.

Zum Netzwerktreffen für deutsch-israelische Austauschpartnerschaften im April 2024 laden wir herzlich ein!

Das ConAct-Projekt „Sichtbar Handeln! Umgehen mit Antisemitismus in Jugend- und Bildungsarbeit“ qualifiziert auch 2024 unter dem Konzept „Bildung in Deutschland und Begegnung mit Israel“ Fachkräfte der Jugendhilfe in Deutschland. Das Diskursprojekt besteht aus drei Modulen und richtet sich an Fachkräfte, die bisher noch keine private/berufliche Erfahrung mit Israel haben. Modul I findet vom 13.–17. Mai 2024 voraussichtlich in Hannover oder Hamburg statt. Bitte tragen Sie sich bei Interesse gern unverbindlich in die Interessent*innenliste ein, um aktuelle Infos zu den Diskursprojekten zu erhalten.

Seit den Angriffen der Hamas auf Israel am 7. Oktober und den hierauf folgenden Kriegszustand, in dem die Menschen in Israel leben, konnten physische deutsch-israelische Begegnungsprogramme kaum mehr stattfinden. Haben Sie auch Wünsche oder Ideen, ein Projekt zu planen, das vom üblichen Rahmen der Planungen und Vorgaben abweicht? Möchten Sie einen von Ihnen gestellten Antrag umdenken, verändern? Das geht!

ConAct, die Israel Youth Exchange Authority und der Rat der Jugendbewegungen in Israel haben vom 22. bis 24. Januar 2024 Expert*innen aus den Bereichen Jugendaustausch und Bildung zusammengebracht, um gemeinsam Konzepte für den pädagogischen Umgang mit den Folgen des Angriffs der Hamas auf Israel zu entwickeln.

Bereits wenige Tage nach den Angriffen der Hamas auf Israel lud ConAct Fachkräfte im Deutsch-Israelischen Jugendaustausch zu einer aktuellen Stunde mit Partner*innen vom Verband der Israelischen Jugendbewegungen ein. Hierbei wurde der Bedarf und das Interesse deutlich, in dieser Krisenzeit im engen Austausch miteinander und mit ConAct zu stehen und Stimmen aus Israel zu hören. Vor diesem Hintergrund finden seit den letzten Monaten eine Reihe digitaler Angebote von ConAct mit Menschen aus der israelischen Jugendarbeit und Gesellschaft statt.

29. Januar: Gespräch mit Tlalit Kitzoni, Leitung Bildungsabteilung im “From Holocaust to Revival Museum” im Kibbutz Yad Mordechai und Augenzeugin des Terrorangriffs der Hamas am 7. Oktober.

Viele der Betroffenen des Hamas-Terrors vom 7. Oktober sind jung. In einem Interview mit der Zeitung "Die Welt" beschreibt Tal Madar vom Council of Youth Movements in Israel die psychologische Wirkung der Bilder und Berichte über die Gräueltaten auf Kinder und Jugendliche.

ConAct war am 25. Januar 2024 zu Gast im DIY²-Labor von IJAB – Fachstelle für Internationale Jugendarbeit der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Hier bot sich die Gelegenheit, die aus dem German-Israeli Youth Exchange Lab entwickelte  Sammlung von Rezepten „A Biss of Culture. A Taste of German-Israeli Youth Exchange“ vorzustellen. 

Aufgrund der Situation in Israel fand Ende letzten Jahres keine öffentliche Shimon-Peres-Preisverleihung statt. Letzte Woche konnten nun in einer parallelen Veranstaltung im Auswärtigen Amt in Berlin und in der Residenz des Deutschen Botschafters in Herzliya im Beisein einiger Jurymitglieder, der Familie Peres sowie der Vorständin des Deutsch-Israelischen Zukunftsforums, PD Dr. Tamara Or, die Urkunden an die Gewinner*innenprojekte des Shimon-Peres-Preises 2023 durch Staatsminister Dr. Tobias Lindner und S.E. Botschafter Steffen Seibert verliehen werden.

Der deutsch-israelische Jugendaustausch des CVJM Region Bad Belzig basiert auf einer langjährigen Partnerschaft mit dem WIZO Hadassim College. Nachdem in Gesprächen mit ehemaligen und zukünftigen Austauschteilnehmer*innen deutlich wurde, wie viel Propaganda und Fehlinformationen sie seit dem Angriff der Hamas am 7. Oktober ausgesetzt sind, entstand die Idee, die israelische Gruppenleiterin Anat Alon persönlich nach Deutschland einzuladen, um ihre Geschichte zu erzählen und ihre Sichtweise darzustellen.

"Wir können nicht viel tun, aber wir können dafür sorgen, dass 70 Soldaten und Soldatinnen sich nicht die Hände abfrieren." Mit diesem Satz startete die Evangelische Jugend Annaberg ein Spendenprojekt zur Unterstützung ihrer israelischen Freunde aus dem Jugendaustauschprojekt "be human".

How to deal with October 7 in education and encounters? A bilateral exchange group has already met in January 2024 to communicate the new reality of Israel in encounter work and promote understanding and empathy. Educational concepts and potential materials will soon be available.

Despite everything, new German-Israeli partnerships will be established in the Match-Making-Program this year; the work against antisemitism and hostility towards Israel will continue in numerous events; in April 2024, German and Israeli project partners will meet in order to plan encounters.

ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority are inviting organizations to participate in the Match-Making Program 2024. The program connects partner organizations for the German-Israeli youth exchange and accompanies the new partnerships in the development of their projects.

The two-part seminar will bring together the German and Israeli partner organizations that have already been “matched” based on the wishes expressed before. The aim is to get to know each other personally and to plan initial encounter projects together. The first planning is facilitated by information on content, financing and educational design of the programs. The seminars consist of a joint session in Ramat Gan and Berlin, respectively, as well as on-site visits to the institutions of the respective new exchange partners.

Please note: The seminar consists of two parts:

1st part: March 10–15, 2024 in Germany (planned)
2nd part: June 2–7, 2024 in Israel (planned)

Participation in both parts of the program is mandatory.

The Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7 and the subsequent war have deeply affected and shaken Israeli society. There is a need for intensive joint reflection on how the relevance of the events of October 7 can be addressed in bilateral educational work before, during and after the encounters and which framework young people need to ensure meaningful encounters.

ConAct, the Israel Youth Exchange Authority and the Council of Youth Movements in Israel brought together experts from the field of youth exchange and education from January 22 to 24, 2024 to jointly develop concepts for dealing with the consequences of Hamas' attack on Israel in an educational context.

ConAct offers a volunteer service in the exciting field of international youth work between Germany and Israel, that also includes the participation and involvement in running projects for professionals and young people (seminars, events, exchange programs etc.). Each volunteer creates an own project within the scope of our activities and implements it throughout the volunteer year. The work of the volunteer takes place mostly in the ConAct office in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, which will be the home for the ConAct volunteer.

Just a few days after the Hamas attacks on Israel, ConAct invited experts in German-Israeli youth exchange to a live discussion with partners from the Council of Youth Movements in Israel. At the meeting, it became clear that there was a need and interest in maintaining a close exchange with each other and with ConAct during this time of crisis and in hearing voices from Israel. In this context, ConAct was holding a series of digital events with people from Israeli youth work and society over the past weeks.

On January 29, ConAct continued its series of talks with Tlalit Kitzoni. She is head of the education department at the "From Holocaust to Revival Museum" in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai and is an expert in the field of Holocaust education. Tlalit described her experiences during the Hamas terror attack on October 7, which she had to experience in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, close to the border. She survived because she hid under her bed all day. With remarkable objectivity, the description focused on how to function in this situation of fear. Finally, Tlalit was rescued by soldiers in the evening.

On the evening of January 23, 2024, a roundtable discussion was held in presence as part of a bilateral working meeting in Berlin.

ConAct was a guest at the DIY² Lab of IJAB - International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany on January 25, 2024. The popular digital event series stands for "Do-It-Yourself in Digital International Youth Work". Since March 2021, experts have been experimenting with digital tools and methods and discussing practical and fundamental questions relating to digital international youth work. The topic this time was: "Let's cook! Recipes for intercultural learning in digital encounters". This was an opportunity to present the collection of recipes developed by the German-Israeli Youth Exchange Lab and published by ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority in 2023, "A Biss of Culture. A Taste of German-Israeli Youth Exchange", which was published in 2023 by ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority. At the same time, it was also possible to successfully test how the methodological impulses suggested in the publication between the recipes and stories can be adapted for digital practice.
 

Many of those affected by the Hamas terror of October 7 are young. In an interview with the German newspaper “Die Welt” Tal Madar from the Council of Youth Movements in Israel describes the psychological impact of the images and reports of the atrocities on children and young people.

Due to the situation in Israel, there was no public Shimon Peres Award ceremony at the end of last year, but last week the certificates were presented to the winning projects of the Shimon Peres Award 2023 by Minister of State Dr. Tobias Lindner and H.E. Ambassador Steffen Seibert in a parallel event at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and at the residence of the German Ambassador in Herzliya in the presence of some jury members, the Peres family and PD Dr. Tamara Or, board member of the German-Israeli Future Forum“.

The German-Israeli youth exchange of the YMCA Bad Belzig region is based on a long-standing partnership with the WIZO Hadassim College. After conversations with former and future exchange participants made it clear how much propaganda and misinformation they have been exposed to since the attack of Hamas on October 7, the idea was born to invite the Israeli group leader Anat Alon personally to Germany to tell her story and present her point of view.

"We can't do much, but we can make sure that 70 servicemen and women don't freeze their hands."

With this sentence the Protestant Youth Annaberg started a support donation project their Israeli friends from the youth exchange project "be human".
