The new year 2016 has started and we are still in many ways busily closing up the great projects of the anniversary year 2015:
Significant impressions and outcomes of the German-Israeli Youth Congress are being documented, new descriptions of exchange projects of former years are being included in the website www.Exchange-Visons.de and the short films of the youth encounter “Spotlight on… 50 Years Germany & Israel” will soon be accessible to everyone, together with a booklet on educational methods going with the short films and serving as helpful tools for German-Israeli encounters.
At the same time we are continuing our regular support for the German-Israeli exchange community: In April we will offer the next turn of our Match Making Program for new partnerships of organizations. In May we will invite for a conference with all the German umbrella organizations and representatives of the German federal states.
In addition to that we will present to you here our new project and topic in focus: Under the headline of “Living Diversity in Germany and Israel – Challenges for Education and Youth Exchange” we are aiming at building up a network of organizations and professionals who feel connected to the approach of diversity education in youth work and exchange projects – education against exclusion and discrimination, in favor of a socially and culturally equal way of working and living together.
As always we continue all these projects in close cooperation with the Israel Youth Exchange Authority in Tel Aviv.
Please find more information within the specific articles…
With best wishes for a successful and fulfilling exchange year 2016!
Your ConAct-Team
The project “Living Diversity in Germany and Israel” aims at developing a German-Israeli educational network of organizations and professionals who wish to increase the awareness of the existing diversity (among others: cultural / religious / ethnic / social/ sexual / physical and mental abilities) in both countries and who wish to actively deepen the consciousness of democratic values in youth work and exchange projects. It highlights the wish to foster and intensify the decades-long German-Israeli cooperation in the field of exchanges and youth work. Democratic and civic education as well as living in social and cultural pluralism are already common subjects and concerns in Germany and Israel. Given the complex and difficult history of National Socialism and its aftermath for both societies to the present day, they are mutual and powerful elements for a truthful and fruitful cooperation between German and Israeli organizations. ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority will initiate a professional discourse and dialogue on a diversity-conscious and non-discriminatory education, which will involve both already committed key-organizations as well as stakeholders of German-Israeli youth contacts and organizations whose target groups and/or professionals have not had access to German-Israeli youth work and exchanges before. We will keep you up to date – on the project objectives, about the events and the participating organizations on www.living-diversity.org. The project “Living Diversity in Germany and Israel” is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth through the German federal program “Live Democracy!” as well as through support from the Israeli Youth Exchange Authority. The project is running from 2015 to 2018. |
Part 1: April 10 to 15, 2016 in Israel ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority invite to the New Con-T-Acts Match Making Seminar 2016 in order to continue the process of establishing new partnerships between German and Israeli organizations for youth projects and the exchange of professionals. During the two-part seminar, the German-Israeli partner organizations which have been “matched” beforehand according to their wishes are brought together. The seminar aims at getting to know each other and to start with planning first encounter projects. By informing about the contents, financial support for and a pedagogical structuring of the exchange programs, we want to facilitate the first steps in planning. Currently we are mostly searching for interested organizations from Germany. Are you interested or do you know other organizations who want to establish new German-Israeli contacts? We appreciate your interest or a reference to possibly interested organizations! Please contact ConAct or the Israel Youth Exchange Authority. |
The anniversary year 2015 was filled with a great number of German-Israeli encounters, joint projects and events. In both countries, 50 years of diplomatic relations and 60 years of German-Israeli youth exchange were celebrated and appreciated in various manners. The internet portal www.Exchange-Visions.de offers activists in encounters the possibility to document and share experiences and pictures. When uploading reports and photos of your own events and youth exchange projects you are not just conducive to the documentary of the more than 60 years of history of German-Israeli youth-relations. At the same time, other protagonists of German-Israeli exchange benefit from your ideas and experiences. Feel invited to develop the digital exhibition spot www.Exchange-Visions.de! The internet portal originated as a cooperation project of ConAct and the Israel Youth Exchange Authority. More than 300 German-Israeli exchange projects were already recorded at the website. For questions, please do not hesitate to contact ConAct. |
In 1990 youngsters from Wuerzburg visited Israel for the first time. One year later, the first return visit took place in Germany. Since then nearly incessantly exchange programs between both districts were realized. Many ideas, projects and friendships orgininate from this time. The commemoration of the Shoah has always been the main focus; however, also modern subjects as the German-Israeli relations and the Middle East Conflict have been discussed. But there was also place for contemporary common interests of the youngsters: common grounds, spending time together and having fun. In the center of the program stands a 3 days lasting educational project. The district of Wuerzburg has a long Jewish history. Historical workshops including the restauration of grave stones, interviewing eye witnesses and publishing a brochure have been organized on the Jewish cemetery Allersheim, in the old villages of Aub and Gaukönigshofen and in Wuerzburg. Other projects were intercultural learning or subjects of ecology. All projects are based on creative methods of youth work and informal youth education: photography and film work, theatre and interviews, collage and painting. You will find more information (German) on the anniversary of this exchange project including pictures at the ConAct-Website. |
